Our Work
Science, law, and community — working together.
Missouri Conservancy, LLC coordinates the independent expertise and public participation needed to hold this process accountable. Here is what that work looks like on the ground.

Four pillars of our effort
01
Independent Environmental Assessment
We fund and coordinate independent scientific review of the proposed development's potential impacts — water withdrawal, thermal discharge, stormwater runoff, and habitat fragmentation. This work supplements and challenges applicant-submitted studies with expert analysis the public can trust.
- Commissioned review of MDC Natural Heritage findings
- Hydrological impact modeling for the Meramec corridor
- Independent species survey coordination
02
Legal Counsel & Regulatory Participation
Environmental permitting and land-use approval processes are complex. We retain qualified legal counsel to review permit applications, file comments in administrative proceedings, and pursue litigation when the law requires it. Every public comment period is an opportunity — and we make sure it counts.
- Retained environmental law counsel
- Filed substantive comments in permit proceedings
- Monitoring Clean Water Act Section 404 and 401 review
03
Community Coordination
Residents of Franklin County and the surrounding Meramec Valley have a right to participate in decisions that affect their water, land, and quality of life. We organize public meetings, distribute plain-language summaries of regulatory filings, and connect neighbors with the resources they need to engage effectively.
- Public information meetings in Franklin County
- Plain-language permit summaries distributed to residents
- Coordination with neighboring landowners and watershed groups
04
Ongoing Habitat Monitoring
Protecting the Meramec Valley is a long-term commitment. We support baseline habitat and species monitoring so that any future changes to the watershed can be measured against a documented pre-development record — a critical tool in any legal or regulatory challenge.
- Baseline water quality monitoring at key Meramec sites
- Species presence documentation in the project area
- Photographic and field record archive
How your contributions are used
Missouri Conservancy, LLC is not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We are an LLC structured for advocacy and litigation — which means we can do things a charity cannot, including funding direct legal action and coordinating political participation. Contributions are not tax-deductible, but they go directly to the work: assessments, legal fees, and community coordination.
This work depends on your support.
Independent science and legal counsel are not free. Every contribution funds the expertise needed to make the case — in public hearings, administrative proceedings, and court.
